Kanami Ibuki (伊吹 かなみ, Ibuki Kanami) is a genius painter, known for having no fixed style of painting.

Personality[]

The ultimate individualist. Kanami always has an air of mystery around her, and likes to keep a clean and neat appearance corresponding to her huge pride. She hates people who put their own ineptitude up on a pedestal. She respects Akane Sonoyama as a scholar, but hates her as an individual. She talks down to others as she thinks that is how a world class artist should act. Because of her physical limitations, Kanami does not get along well with others and hates other people. Her catchphrase is: "You didn't know?"[1]

Appearance[]

Kanami has blue eyes and blond hair. She wears a pale dress that looks like something out of a French movie, and expensive jewelry. Having supposedly suffered problems with her legs since birth, she uses a wheelchair.

History[]

Until a few years before visiting Wet Crow's Feather Island, Kanami was blind, which is the cause of her blue eyes. After she regained her sight, her caretaker Shinya Sakaki taught her how to paint, but in one month, she had surpassed him.[1]

Besides that, There's information from a friend of Kunagisa that says that Ibuki and Akane met up in Chicago before arriving the island with no specific purposes.

Plot[]

The Beheading Cycle[]

On the morning of I's third day on the island, Kanami is observing a cherry tree. Shinya convinces Kanami to paint I's portrait, much to her displeasure. I visits Kanami in the atelier to have his portrait done. After he calls one of her paintings pretty, Kanami destroys it. I and Kanami talk for the next two hours as she memorizes him to she can paint his portrait later. At dinnertime, all twelve residents of the island gather together to eat. She is offended by Iria Akagami's praise of Jun Aikawa. When she begins arguing with Akane, Tomo Kunagisa puts a stop to their fighting.[1]

  • Read backwards, "Ibuki Kanami" can be read as "No Head Now".
